Birmingham PHAB Camps is a small, totally voluntary, organisation whose aim is to encourage the integration of disabled and able-bodied children and young people. We arrange holidays for groups of twenty or so people, in various age groups, during July and August. Half of the participants have disabilities and half are able-bodied. We also arrange holidays for groups of children who have severe multiple disabilities. Volunteer helpers staff the holidays.
We organise a range of holidays for children and young adults at activity centres and hotels in the UK. Despite our name, none of the Camps are under canvas!
We run three main types of Camps:
Camps for disabled and able-bodied children
Camps for people with multiple disabilities
Camp for children with Autism

Every week it welcomes over 200 people of all ages with special needs who benefit from the pleasure and stimulation of riding, carriage-driving and equestrian vaulting.

This unique Centre also provides residential riding holidays for groups of people with special needs from all over the UK and abroad. The Centre is also available during the winter months for non-riding holidays for people with special needs.

Ellie's Haven is a charity that plans to offer relief to families with children suffering long term and life limiting illnesses. In order to do this, it needs to raise £1.6 million to build a new type of holiday haven in south-east Cornwall - see the artist's impressions to the right.
The planned facility will enable families to stay together whilst on holiday - something that most parents would like but often can't achieve at present.
The concept also enables therapists and other professionals to help several families on a single visit to the retreat, considerably improving efficiency and cutting patient waiting lists.
A survey of prospective users indicates high demand for this non-medical centre, which is far less costly to build and operate than a conventional children's hospice. However, it complements rather than competes with hospices, focusing on providing holidays for the whole family rather than medical care for the disabled child.
