BILD believes that listening to the views and experiences of people with learning disabilities and their family carers is central to developing effective services.
While we do this in our work in developing effective policy and practice, as well using our conferences, events and publications to spread good advice and demonstrate the benefits of best practice, we also work hard to ensure we have an effective and informed membership to help spread the word as well.

The Assistive Technology Sector is an extremely important part of modern-day care management. The equipment it provides transforms lives, facilitating those with a need to improve independence and enhance safer living.
The BHTA has launched an exciting initiative for people working in the assistive technologies sector - the skills and experience of whom has previously gone largely unacknowledged.
The ATP Society aims to recognise job competences and raise standards, in turn giving members of the public, and professionals, the confidence that if they deal with a Registered Practitioner they are dealing with someone they can trust.
Every registered individual has an identity card and a certificate of proof of his or her registration (and at what level). There is a special Code of Conduct for the scheme, too, which every member agrees to follow.
