Student Welfare Services has a Disability Welfare Adviser and a Disability Support Worker who coordinate services for all disabled students within the University.
We can offer information and advice on Disabled Students Allowances; disability benefits such as Disability Living Allowance and what help is available if you are or think you may be dyslexic. The University produces a Disabled Students Guide, which gives information on the University's facilities and legal obligations for disabled students.
The Service offers practical help and assistance with arranging specialist support and equipment as well as offering help with special assessment arrangements if necessary.

Under Student Services see Learning and Personal Support
The College caters for a wide range of disabilities and learning difficulties (including dyslexia) and we welcome applications from students with disabilities or other additional needs. We ask you to tell us on your application form if you have a disability or a learning difficulty for which you may need extra support. You also have a chance to tell us about this at your interview. We will then assess what kind of support you need to attend the course.

DMU work with applicants and current students with a wide range of physical and sensory disabilities, medical conditions and Specific Learning Differences (SpLD). This includes students with arthritis, Asperger Syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, cerebral palsy, Crohn’s disease, deafness, dyscalculia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, epilepsy, keratoconus, nystagmus, Multiple Sclerosis and sickle cell anaemia.

Disability advisors offers support on all aspects of disability queries ranging from:
Support Plan - which we initially put into place for you - then update following a study needs assessment.
We assist you through the Disabled Students Allowance application. Disabilities can range from learning difficulties, mental health problems, as well as physical health problems.
The Disabled Students Allowance is a non means tested grant which provides money for necessary equipment and support to enable you to study effectively.
We also have advisors who assist with all aspects of financial advice from student loans to living expenses.
We've a dedicated support bookings team who can organise all your support needs including Dyslexia Support Tutors, Note Takers, Personal Assistants.
