Chickenshed is a theatre company. We work using an inclusive creative process which means everyone is welcome, and everyone is valued. Not many places are for everyone and anyone - so a lot of people who find themselves unwelcome elsewhere in the world, come to us. Chickenshed runs Children's and Youth Theatre workshops for 600 people, education courses for over 100 students, community outreach projects and a network of satellite 'Sheds' across the country (and two in Russia) so even more can benefit. Every extraordinary piece of theatre created at Chickenshed shouts out the same thing: anyone can thrive in an environment where everyone is welcome.

We run drama workshops specifically for those who do not normally have access to creative ways of expressing themselves, but who would benefit from the space and empowerment which this offers.
We work with many groups of people, including young offenders, young people with behavioural or emotional issues, looked-after children, those with mental illness and adults with learning difficulties.

Defying Drama works with adults and children alike, who have disabilities and learning difficulties, and those without. It aims to create social bonds and helps to remove any social barriers, by bringing in a range of activities and exercises especially adapted to suit all abilities.
Defying Drama will also provide an insight on how to work with disabilities and learning difficulties on a general basis. If you have not worked with disabilities or learning difficulties before, then you may want to check out the Working With Abilities page before you continue in this site.

We organise and run visual art, drama, dance and music projects for people with disabilities in the UK.
Epic Arts began in London and for the first two years operated out of an office/bedroom in Tower Hamlets. We now have three full time staff members and a pool of 25 freelancers, and are housed in an office in west London. Our projects take place across London with annual international trips to China and SE Asia.
Our projects work across the age spectrum and involve partners from arts, health, community and education backgrounds. We believe in forming long-term partnerships and many of our projects are repeated annually.

Oily Cart is one of the great British theatre companies of the last 25 years. Yet plenty of theatregoers, even the most avid, will not have heard of it. The reason is simple: Oily Cart works entirely with children, many with complex disabilities, and often behind closed doors in special schools.

Shabang! are Kim Reuter and Russ Elias - theatre practitioners with over twenty years experience of taking accessible arts projects to special education settings.
We are part of a triad of arts companies who came together to realise the renovation of The Watershed, Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire into an accessible participatory arts resource. This is now our base and where we host the majority of our work.
We work exclusively within the field of additional learning needs. We are musicians, performers, designers and makers and are both qualified teachers. We combine these skills to create a blend of our own peculiar educational tomfoolery breaking through the fourth wall and invite our audience to participate in a special and unique shared experience.
