The main role of the BCAD since it was formed in 1991 has been in developing cricket for people with physical and learning disabilities. We focus very much on the interests of the players, whilst recognising the tremendous role that people with disabilities can play in the areas of scoring, umpiring and the administration of the game.We are represented on the Disabilities Sub Group of the ECB, where we first became involved in deaf cricket. Les Townend has been a member of the sub group since its early days and is now attended by Mike O’Mahony. Since ECAD was formed, I have been working with Mike and Les in my role of Disabilities Consultant to the ECB so I know of their commitment to developing deaf cricket.

The Cheshire Disabled Cricket Club was set up in 2000 through Cheshire Cricket Development at the request of the Cheshire Clubs' Cricket Committee to promote the game for people with disabilities. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. There has been a solid core of members with one or two changes from time to time. The dedication of the club towards improvement together with winter nets before and after Christmas has seen the side develop into a well organised unit.
