BIME is an engineering design and development organisation working to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and healthcare problems. The Institute is an incorporated independent body maintained by charitable donations, sales of products and research grants.
We are a team of professional design engineers, an Occupational Therapist, technicians and support staff; who work closely with healthcare professionals, disabled people and other end-users to develop appropriate solutions. Our key strengths are our multidisciplinary team, our strong links with the user community and ability to understand and translate the needs of users into appropriate technology.
As a charity, we are recognised as a centre of excellence within the assistive technology field and we have a national reputation for smart house technology, the development of products for people with dementia and children’s mobility.
