Angelman Syndrome is a rare genetic condition first identified in the mid 1960's by a British doctor called Harry Angelman, from whom it also gained its name.In simple terms, it is a chromosome disorder that causes severe learning difficulties. Since the condition was first identified in 1965 to date only about 350 people (mostly children and young adults) have been diagnosed in the UK. This number is increasing due to the improvement and ease of Genetic testing.

Headstart4Babies is a UK charity (registered number 1112256) run by Philip Saich and Karen Laker, whose baby Ben was treated for severe plagiocephaly in 2004/2005.
Headstart4Babies aims to raise awareness of plagiocephaly and brachycephaly, conditions which are being diagnosed in an increasing number of babies. Plagiocephaly and brachycephaly can be treated using a non-invasive helmet and treatment is most effective between the ages of four and 12 months, as that is when the skull is experiencing its most rapid growth and is at its most malleable. Treatment in the UK costs a maximum of £2,500.
Although we can offer help and advice on what it is like to have a baby with plagiocephaly, we are not medically qualified and cannot therefore give medical advice.

The chance to ride and benefit from close contact with horses, other animals, and nature. Children with neurological issues seem to benefit especially from this, but obviously children with no specific issues, who just want to connect with animals and nature, also benefit enormously.
We invite you to contact us, let us know your situation and come out with your own therapist. We offer premises, animals, and trained staff to facilitate, whether the goal be occupational therapy, ABA, academics, straight riding lessons, or some combination of them all.
We do not charge for our services, but rather encourage those who come to donate whatever is appropriate and within their budget.
