LPLD is a special interest group recognised by the Law Society. It was established by Tony Quinn and Lynne Brooke in 1985 and it's purpose is to act as a resource for solicitors who are approached by or on behalf of a person with learning disabilities involving the various areas of the law that might affect them.
The other purpose is for members of the public to be able to locate solicitors who have the necessary expertise in the various areas of the law such as community care, benefits, disability discrimination and the question of capacity (under the Mental Capacity Act 2006).
