Every week it welcomes over 200 people of all ages with special needs who benefit from the pleasure and stimulation of riding, carriage-driving and equestrian vaulting.
As anyone who has enjoyed the opportunity will know, learning to ride, drive a carriage, or participate in vaulting offers an inspiration and challenge that is quite unforgettable - for people with disabilities, the experience is all the more special.

Ebony Horse Club is a charity that helps to improve the life skills, education and aspirations of some of the most disadvantaged children and young people growing up in Brixton, South London, by providing access to horse riding, outdoor activities and mentoring. Ebony uses access to horses and riding to teach five key social skills: punctuality, regular attendance, commitment to improvement, team work and exam preparation.
Ros intended Ebony to be for children who were experiencing significant difficulties and challenges. We continue to offer mentoring to children who are at threat of exclusion, in care, coping with bereavement, have learning difficulties and lifelong development disabilities such as ADHD, autism and Aspergers Syndrome. Many of our children are confronting multiple problems frequently leading to an inability to cope which can lead to exclusion.

The Charity was founded in 1994 with the express purpose of helping young diabetics come to terms with their condition. The concept was to relate the lifestyle of a horse to that of a diabetic given that there are many similarities . Simply put, the child learns to care for the horse and learns to care for himself at the same time. Obviously that is not the total of all that is achieved, riding itself has been considered a therapeutic activity in its own right for some time and communication is an essential activity when riding or just being in a yard.
If you would like to know more about the Centre based at Morelands Copse farm in Eastleigh Hampshire then please contact Kerie Coutts.

We have several permanent sites in the UK and USA, each of which offer slightly differing experiences. From a stately home in Argyll, Scotland to the woods and fields of central England, to the green hills of Wales, to the rocks and water of the Texas Hill Country, there are a variety of environment and horse experiences on offer. Camps usually run for 3 – 4 days and are for the whole family. They do not offer respite – you cook for yourself and are responsible for your child at all times – but the experience can be joyful.
We use specific techniques (see the Horse Boy Method page) which Rupert Isaacson, the founder of ‘The Horse Boy Foundation’ and the inspiration behind the camps, found worked with his Son, Rowan.
We also include activities and riding for the non-Autistic siblings of the families that come.

The fact that we provide a hippotherapy service to people with movement disorders of all ages, as well as our specific set-up makes Horse Power for Ability unique in the UK.
