For people carrying the burden of chronic health problems like diabetes, hepatitis or cancer, feeling alone and in the dark about their treatment options can be a fact of life. Without tools to discuss and compare notes, the explosion of online health information can be as confusing as it is helpful.

Founded by Matt Jameson-Evans and Jorge Armanet, HealthUnlocked provides tools to make the most of the hidden experts out there. Our web-based tools are designed for specific diseases with patient groups. The tools help gather the knowledge and experience of patients and to share it with a wider patient audience. The information and sense of support can reduce the isolation and fear of people facing chronic conditions.

The difference between HealthUnlocked and other social networks is the level of moderation by the trusted patient groups and charities. Our use of web widgets and applications that are distributed across websites encourages patients to access our communities.

We are a charity dedicated to training dogs in the detection and recognition of human disease by odour.
Our first study, published in the British Medical Journal in 2004, showed that dogs can be trained to identify the odour of cancer within urine. This unknown finding indicated the potential to a new method of diagnosing cancer which would be simple, quick and non-invasive.
Medical Alert Dogs
We also train medical assistance dogs to alert individuals managing day to day life threatening conditions by detecting minute changes in body odour. These include Diabetes blood sugar alert dogs trained for individuals coping with unstable Type 1 Diabetes.
The charity also train dogs for other life threatening conditions such as severe pain seizures and Addison`s Disease. Alert dogs warn their owners and bring vital medical supplies and get assistance if required.
